WORKFORCE IN PRACTICE · TEAM USE

Learn together without turning learning into surveillance.

Use Workforce in Practice for onboarding, staff development, board learning, provider conversations, or partner discussions. The model is conversation and application, not tracking individual scores.

Team-use rule

Do not ask people to submit screenshots, self-scores, scenario answers, or completion histories as proof of competence. Use the course to create shared language, surface questions, compare local practice with official sources, and identify improvement opportunities.

A 30-minute team format

5 minRead

Review one module or selected section before the discussion.

10 minCompare

How does the operating model compare with what actually happens here?

10 minDecide

Work through one scenario together. Name what evidence or authority you would need.

5 minImprove

Identify one question to verify or one small operating change worth testing.

Discussion prompt by module

01Governance & AuthorityWhere does authority become unclear in our own system, and how would someone know who can decide?
02WDB Operating YearWhich deadlines or decisions routinely arrive too late for good management?
03Follow the MoneyWhich fiscal terms do we use imprecisely, and what confusion does that create?
04Fiscal ManagementWhat information should accompany every spending-rate discussion before we decide there is a problem?
05Procurement, Contracts & SubawardsWhere could our contracting lifecycle be clearer from need definition through closeout?
06Providers & Service DeliveryWhat information do program and fiscal staff need to see together when managing a provider?
07AJCC OperationsWhere does a customer experience our organizational boundaries as friction?
08Participant ServicesDo our files tell one coherent story from eligibility through exit and follow-up?
09Training & Skills StrategyWhich training decisions are individual case decisions, and which reveal a larger portfolio problem?
10Work-Based Learning & ApprenticeshipAre we starting with the workforce problem or with the funding tool we already know?
11Employer & Sector StrategyWhich employer relationships create measurable value beyond a transaction?
12PerformanceWhich numbers do we react to before understanding the cohort, denominator, timing, or data quality?
13Data, LMI & StrategyWhat evidence would cause us to change a strategic priority rather than defend it?
14Monitoring & AccountabilityWhich recurring finding signals a process or control problem rather than an isolated file error?
15Partnerships & Regional SystemsWhich shared problem has many participants but no clear owner?
16Continuous Improvement & System LeadershipWhat recurring friction should we observe and test rather than discuss again?

Bring the local evidence. For consequential discussions, bring the applicable local policy, contract, MOU, board delegation, fiscal report, monitoring tool, or official source. The course should help the team ask better questions, not replace the material that governs the answer.
